Our 1969 Land Rover 109″ Series II A is a hugely capable off-road machine with timeless looks and military toughness. In fact, many enthusiasts consider the Series II A to be on of the more resilient ‘Series’ models built by Land Rover at the time. This also happens to be the top-of-the-line, long 109” configuration of the model.

Exterior

Body

The body is straight with no dents and even panel gaps throughout. Doors close flush with a little bit of force. Rust-free. It also has a brand new galvanized frame to help prevent against corrosion and keep it on (and off) the road for decades to come. Solid bulkhead as well.

Paint

This particular vehicle features a forest green paint job combined with a painted white roof portion and wheels (5). The exterior paint is extensively visible throughout the interior due to a lack of interior paneling (for obvious reasons). The vehicle was repainted a number of years ago and the paint looks great with virtually no issues all around. Some roughness to the paint which suits its military style.

Wheels & Styling Cues

The Land Rover Series II A’s imposing white wheels (5, including the spare) are in good shape with minor curb rash on the rear left.

Interior

Dashboard and Instrumentation

All gauges are in good working order – some wear and tear. It features an aftermarket radio (Sony head unit). The horn does not work.

Seats & Trim

Due to the ruggedness of the Series II A, the interior shows little wear and tear on its interior. However, there are some small rips and stains on its green cloth seats.

The interior includes green cloth seats and comfortable seating for 6 (this excludes additional passenger space potential in the wagon portion).

Mechanical

Engine

–2.25L 4-cylinder The engine runs well and sounds healthy
-it starts right up from cold and idles smoothly too.

Transmission

It features a 4-speed manual transmission with long, mechanical gear changes.

Drivetrain

The Land Rover is powered through its original drivetrain from 1969, along with a legendary 4-wheel drive system that can be switched on or off; the 4-wheel drive function works as intended, no issues.

Driving Experience

As expected, the Series II A offers an unique driving experience. With its imposing stance, military-grade aesthetics and functionality, and impressive all terrain capability, there are few other machines that compare.
